Creighton gives us a brief review of ICAO rules. It appears that age 65 allows first officers from foreign countries to operate here in the USA, a privelege citizens of the USA do not enjoy!

December Update
Jan 3, 2004
The PPF has taken the next step by filing its lawsuit in Federal Court.
I would encourage your support of the PPF as they engage the DOT-FAA on the legal front.
Some of you age 59 + have asked about going on the record by filing your own petition for exemption.
This can be done online at the DOT website www.dot.gov Once there, navigate to the DMS page.
The following should also link you to that area... http://dms.dot.gov
The length of your petition and the amount of supporting material that you include is your discretion.
You must address two areas in your petition: #1. why it will be in the public's interest to grant you this exemption; &
#2. why it will improve or maintain the present level of safety. If you need additional information on this feel free
to contact me.
Below is the December PPF Newsletter. Other month's newsletters may be found at their website... www.ppf.org

increased the obligated-service requirement substantially, which encouraged pilots to remain in the service for a career. In the 1950s, low draft calls had reduced the number of nonpilot veterans who qualified for government-subsidized flight training, and in any case, the "GI Bill" had been phased out for those entering military service after 1955. [The "Cold War GI Bill" would replace it in 1967.] Many other career opportunities also beckoned to ex-military pilots during the "swinging sixties." Some even became professors!
