From the Chairman:

First, I would like to thank you all for the great job during the last few days. The support for Congressman Gibbon‘s bill in the Rules Committee meeting this evening was tremendous. It saddens me to say, today luck was not on our side. We were overruled in our desire to persuade the committee to allow our Bill to get to the Floor to be attached to the FAA Reauthorization Bill tomorrow. We knew this was a long shot, but still, a shot. Margret McElroy, Congressman Gibbons LA, was at the meeting and gave me the details. She said Gibbons delivered a great presentation. Others added to his support. Unfortunately it was not enough. Following the meeting, Gibbons met with Young and expressed his disappointment with Young‘s decision. To sooth ruffled feathers, Young offered to conduct a special hearing for our issue in the near future, which was accepted. More on that later. We educated the entire room on our issue. This is important. This ! will help us down the road.

Tomorrow is a new day. We will focus our efforts on the Senate. As for now, please hold all calls and faxes to the House and Congress. We will need your energy to press the Senators in the next few days. Please check the website often as to know how and when to help. Today was but one battle in a very tough war. This fight is far from over. We get stronger by the day. Our membership grows daily. ALPA now considers us such a threat that they have asked us to change our name!!!! It is too close to theirs. The Congress and the Senate of this country are getting familiar with the name ALPAAD. We will be responsible for changing aviation history. This Rule will be changed and we will be the victors. I only wish I knew the time frame. Keep the faith.
